Duke Ellington is one of the most iconic figures in jazz history. For some six decades he led one of the most famous and accomplished big bands in the world, and the music he and co-writer Billy Strayhorn wrote for that band became some of the best loved compositions in jazz. In this performance E17 Jazz will be paying tribute to Duke Ellington and playing some of his best known tunes including among others: Take The A-Train, In a Sentimental Mood and Chelsea Bridge.

E17 is a collective of musicians dedicated to promoting jazz in the E17 area. They have been staging jazz events in Walthamstow since 2008. In 2012 they were awarded the ‘Love Your Borough’ Award for Culture in recognition of their role in enriching the cultural life of the borough.
